Throw a bare-minimum concept for a character at me (e.g., 'Amish fighter pilot' or 'dystopian werewolf' or something like that... like the holds page at Neopolis!) and I'll flesh it out with a sketch of a background and personality/a PB/the kind of game they might be in/etc. Just for kicks and giggles, to stretch creative muscles.
Maybe this will help me do my actual goddamn apps. |

So, I finished A Storm of Swords. It's safe to say that I am well and truly hooked in this series, as I plan on devouring a huge chunk of A Feast For Crows today/tonight and I'll probably pick up the fifth book on my way home from work tomorrow.

And just because I realised I haven't actually put it out there yet;
Me and Luis are going to be starting up an X-Game in the next few weeks.
The premise is basically an X-Team working as a Black Ops unit with a more realistic, Ultimate lean to it.
There's going to be some fun takes on costumes, codenames and the usual 'superhero' trappings and the aim is to hopefully deliver a game with more of a combat-oriented team feel to it.
We're still polishing up the comms, but expect a holds page to be available to the public by this weekend.
I'm really excited about it, so I hope there's a good turn-out. Watch this space for more news. |

So I need some advice for a game that I'm currently setting up and hope to announce this weekend, pending a few thingsa completely hypothetical situation. Just casting it out there;
In a game where a team of super-powered beings will be working under-the-radar and avoiding detection as best they can, whilst still taking down drug-dealers, busting up human trafficking rings, the best US city to set them up in is;
New York?
Pros; Well-known, has crime.
Cons; Overused, possibly a little too densely packed for a group to escape notice for too long?
LA?
Pros; Well-known, has crime, more spread out than New York.
Cons; Possibly as overused as New York.
San Fran?
Pros; Not used all that often, interesting scenes/landscape, nice nod to current X-Canon.
Cons; Seems to suffer the same density problem as New York.
Chicago?
Mostly just here because you never see games set in Chicago and it could be interesting.
Las Vegas?
Idk. This could be fun.
Seattle?
Just here because I like Seattle.
So, thoughts? Any with input/local expertise for any of these places as to why/why not to set a game there?
Similarly, I need PB suggestions for a bad-ass looking, mid-40s redheaded gentleman. So far, all I can think of is Kevin McKidd. |

Ugh. FML.
So, I've been working my ass into the ground this month. Three extra weekend shifts (bringing my total up to 'working every fucking weekend this month'), two late-hour shifts, multiple hours of overtime and covering bits and pieces of shifts for the various people out sick and I've been working non-stop nine hour shifts for... eleven days now? And have two more to go until I get a single day off. But it was all worth it for the huge paycheque I was going to get.
...except no, my cheque has come in and it's the lowest I've had in years. Which means I need to chase down the woman in charge of payroll and figure it out with her. So on top of my exhaustion, I get stress.
I'm still working on my apps, but I probably won't get nebular stuff in before meme week starts.
